Yes! I was afraid that hadn't been clear. Sherlock was the blind date, but he knew John would never agree to a blind date with a man, so he told Mike to say he was a woman named Etain (which I was trying to be clever with the name, it's a Celtic name meaning 'jealousy' because Sherlock is jealous of the women he has seen John with). But yeah, author!fail for not making that more clear. Although I didn't want to get into what would happen when John found out he'd been duped, and it was hard to let the reader know without having John know, given that this was all from John's POV. Oh well.
